Sexual Disorders
SEX SPECIFIC ASSESSMENT/TREATMENT
Assessment and treatment services are provided for men and women who are concerned about sexual interests and/or activities or who have come into conflict with the law as a result of their sexual behaviour. Counselling is also available for partners, friends, parents and children who may be indirectly impacted by their loved-one’s issues. This may include issues such as: pedophilia; hebophilia; fetishes; coercive or non-consensual sexual behaviour; the viewing of Child Sexual Abuse Material on the internet; hypersexuality (sexual addiction) etc.
Assessments include: clinical interviews; the use of actuarial tools; psychometric inventories; viewing time measures and penile plethysmograph (phallometric testing) to identify sexual and object preferences. Physiological testing is completed in conjunction with Alan Kaine Clinical Services http://www.aksextherapy.com.
I am a member of the Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers (ATSA) and I have worked with people in conflict with the law including those charged and convicted of sexual offences, for 28 years. Treatment is evidence-based and is delivered through a cognitive behavioural framework. Relapse prevention and emotional regulation are emphasized throughout treatment. Together we will work to identify strengths, improve knowledge, build skills and increase accountability.
