About
I have spent 24 years working within the Criminal Justice System in a variety of roles. I have had extensive experience working with domestic violence issues, personality disorders, mood disorders (anxiety and depression), addictions, sexual offending (fetishes, paraphilias etc) and problematic online behaviour including child sexual abuse images (child pornography), luring, phone sex/chat lines, hyper-sexuality and male sexual victimization.
Since 2013 I have been working with Alan Kaine MA RSW, Clinical Therapist (http://www.aksextherapy.com/index.html) completing psycho-social/psycho-sexual assessments; providing group and individual counselling to men, women and couples with the above-noted problems.
Additional areas of practice include: workplace stress, anxiety, trauma, depression, separation/divorce, parenting etc. I am able to work with clients on these issues using both short-term and longer term therapy models.
I utilize a variety of clinical approaches and evidence-based theories in helping people achieve satisfying and balanced lives. Some of these include: Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT); elements of Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT); Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Motivational Interviewing; Relapse Prevention; Self-Regulation Model; Good Lives Model; Brief Solution Focused Counselling Model.
I am trained in various assessment tools including: Level of Service Inventory (LSI-OR), Static 99R, Stable 2007 and Acute 2007 and the Hare Psychopathy Checklist (PCL-R).
I look at each person or couple through an individual lens, taking time to explore their issues. Together we develop collaborative treatment plans that are satisfactory to all parties. I believe that change is ultimately your responsibility however the best circumstances for change occur when you have the support, help and encouragement of others, including a therapist.
